FAQs – From Me to You
Is this one of those drop shipping scams?
Nope. I get why people ask this—there are a lot of sketchy brands out there using the drop shipping model to sell cheap, low-quality stuff. That’s not what this is.
Yes, when you place an order, the shirt is made and shipped by my manufacturing partner. But this isn’t some random overseas factory. I work with a single boutique manufacturer that specializes in premium, ethically made garments. I chose this model so I could focus on what I love—design, creativity, and working with underrepresented artists around the world—instead of becoming a full-time shipping clerk. Every shirt is made to order, so nothing's sitting in a warehouse collecting dust. It’s intentional, not impersonal.
Why does shipping take a little longer?
Because we don’t mass produce anything. Every shirt is created individually when you order it. That means less waste, no overproduction, and a lower impact on the planet. It also means it takes a few extra days to get to you—but I promise, it’s worth the wait.
You're not just buying a shirt off a shelf. You're getting something that was made just for you, using high-quality materials and ethical practices. That kind of care takes a little more time, and I think that’s a beautiful thing.
Are your shirts made in a sweatshop?
Absolutely not. I work with one trusted boutique manufacturer that I’ve personally chosen for their commitment to ethical production and premium craftsmanship. Everyone involved is treated well, paid fairly, and works in safe conditions.
Fast fashion and exploitation aren’t part of this brand’s DNA. If I couldn’t stand behind the way these garments are made, I wouldn’t be doing this at all.
What if the shirt doesn’t fit?
I get it—online shopping can be tricky when it comes to sizing. That’s why I include detailed size charts on each product page. If you’re in between sizes or want a more relaxed fit, I usually recommend sizing up. If there’s ever an issue, reach out—I want you to love what you’re wearing. If you have a sizing issue, I'll let you keep the old shirt, and issue you a 40% discount code to re-order. This way neither of us has to deal with the hassle of shipping. If you need help just message me at the bottom right of your screen. I'll get you taken care of!
Can I return or exchange a shirt?
Since each shirt is made to order, I can’t accept returns for things like choosing the wrong size or just changing your mind. That said, if there’s a defect or issue with your order, I’ll absolutely make it right. Just send me a message and I’ll take care of you.
Where are the shirts made?
All of our shirts are made by a boutique manufacturer based in the U.S. that specializes in small-batch, ethically crafted apparel. They focus on quality, sustainability, and fair labor practices—no cut corners, no sweatshops. Certain shirts may be produced at their Chinese location. I realize there is a stigma against this - I get it. But also, Chinese families need to eat too, and we have to remember not to lump everybody into a box. Just like in the US, many citizens don't identify with the politics of their leaders. Also, did you know that 90% of iPhones are created in China?
How do I care for my shirt?
Each shirt is made with premium materials and often features vintage or specialty dyeing techniques. To keep it looking its best:
-
Wash inside out on cold
-
Tumble dry low or hang dry
-
Avoid ironing directly on the design
-
Handle with care to prevent color transfer (especially with mineral or acid wash shirts)
Who designs the shirts?
Most of the designs are created by me—or in collaboration with independent artists I’ve connected with around the world. Many come from underrepresented communities, and I make sure they’re paid fairly and credited for their work. Supporting real artists is a core part of what Phantasmagorical is all about.
Is Phantasmagorical a real company?
Yes—this isn’t some random dropship brand set up overnight. I started Phantasmagorical after leaving a decade-long tech career because I wanted to build something meaningful. I run everything myself—from design to marketing to customer service—so when you buy from here, you’re supporting a real person, not a faceless company.
Sincerely,
Russell Souder
